The finest British holidays and best tourism businesses have been crowed at the itravel Staycation Awards 2020/21.
This year’s awards, of which our flagship brand holidaycottages.co.uk was headline sponsor, recognised the hard work and achievements of the industry in a year like no other. It was also a celebration of the heroes of the domestic travel industry who have had to adapt their businesses to ensure holidaymakers can explore and enjoy our wonderful country in safety.
We were proud that holidaycottages.co.uk was able to help celebrate the successes of our sector. Our dog-friendly cottages brand, Canine Cottages, also sponsored the 'Dog-friendly accommodation' category.
Sophie Lam, itravel Editor, opened the June 10 awards by saying: “This year in particular we’ve been able to appreciate the wonderful tourism offering we have on our doorstep. As the sector gets going again, it’s looking like a good summer for holidays in the UK, but let’s not forget the hard work that has gone into welcoming visitors back during the pandemic.
“Our finalists have excelled at doing this warmly and safely, and they represent a dynamic and resilient industry. At i, we felt it was particularly important to acknowledge this, and to support the domestic tourism industry on its road to recovery.
“Our finalists have been chosen for their exceptional offering, including a commitment to inclusivity and sustainability, as well as welcoming visitors back safely.”
Countryfile and GMB presenter Sean Fletcher then revealed the winners across 14 categories, including best beach and tourism hero of the pandemic, which shone a light on the very best of the UK staycation industry.
Jayne McClure, CEO of the Travel Chapter, commented: “We were proud to sponsor the itravel Staycation Awards this year and to help showcase the incredible people and places throughout the domestic tourism industry. A huge congratulations to all the worthy winners and finalists.
“We hope the awards will inspire many happy holidays enjoying the best the UK has to offer this summer, as we enjoy a fantastic season of staycations.”
