We are looking for a motivated and organised individual to join our busy Finance team, in the role of Finance Assistant . The successful applicant will support the and assist the Financial Controller, and wider Finance team, in the Group’s day-to-day finance activities, including bank and sales ledger reconciliations, assisting with various month end tasks and general administrative duties. Liaise with all departments (particularly the Reservations, Property and Marketing teams) to provide support with any financial tasks, as required.

We are looking for

Essential;

  • Experience working within a busy finance or management accounts department.
  • Experienced in a range of finance tasks, including completion of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Excellent IT skills, comfortable using computerised accounting packages and with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Adaptable – flexible in approach and quick to learn, particularly in technical areas.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to act with diplomacy.
  • Excellent communication skills, in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced, demanding and changeable environment.
  • Ability to solve problems in a calm and methodical manner, and use own initiative.
  • Strong customer service focus, with a positive, professional and proactive attitude.
  • Well organised, with the ability to prioritise, multi-task and effectively meet deadlines.

 Desirable;

  • Qualified, or working towards an industry recognised qualification in accounting (e.g. AAT) or equivalent.
  • Educated to GCSE level, or equivalent.
  • Possess a full clean UK driving licence.
  • Experience of working within the travel and leisure industry.

     

What will you be doing?

Main Responsibilities; 

  • Support the Financial Controller in the finance department’s day-to-day tasks to ensure all deadlines are met and any issues resolved, so that accurate and up-to-date records are available at all times.
  • Raise accurate and timely sales ledger invoices along with monitoring aged debtor positions.
  • Respond to property owner or supplier enquiries by telephone or in writing after checking the relevant details from existing company records.
  • Carry out statistical analysis of our financial information and produce reports to provide current and accurate information to the wider company, as required.
  • Carry out some routine administrative procedures to support the smooth running of the department.
  • Work closely with all our companies and departments to support colleagues with any finance tasks or systems training within your capabilities.
  • Work with the finance team to implement, track and report on all set KPIs.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of all updates in the finance industry to proactively suggest improvements to support the ongoing development of the team.
  • Manage the positive image of the finance department across the Group by providing a high level of support and service, whilst building strong working relationships with all colleagues.
  • Uphold professional boundaries at all times, working confidentially and with discretion across all tasks.
  • Take on any other responsibilities or tasks that are within your skills and abilities whenever reasonably asked.
