As a DevOps Engineer you will be assisting with driving our capacity for handling operational issues while working with the Head of Technology Operations. You will advise the team of developers on the processes that will make our codebase more reliable, testable, and scalable.

You will also research and develop processes required to improve deployment and testing. You will be key in ensuring that we have the infrastructure to facilitate the rapid growth of the business.

We are looking for

Knowledge, skills and experience required:


Commercial hands-on experience of:

  • Automating and orchestrating workloads across multiple public cloud providers
  • Experience working with at least one of the following languages:
    • Node.js
    • Python
    • PHP
    • Ruby
    • C#
    • Java
  • Must be proficient with Git and Git workflows
  • HTML 5
  • CSS 3
  • JQuery
  • AWS (EBS/EC2/RDS/Cloudwatch/Xray)
  • Bootstrap


Some experience/knowledge of:

  • Specification and documentation writing
  • Understanding of testing strategies.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies.
  • SQL Server, including database normalisation and optimisation, stored procedure and user defined function creation

Working Hours

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm
  • Should also be available to provide out of hours support as and when required in line with the agreed SLA’s

Work Location

  • Ability to work from home during the covid-19 pandemic
  • Following the pandemic your work location can be split between your home address and HQ in Bideford 
  • If your work location is split, you should be available to work a minimum of 2 days per week at HQ, subject to business needs
What will you be doing?

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Project Managers to ensure realistic timelines are set for the completion of projects.
  • Work with both Development and Technology Operations team members to improve our development tools, processes, technology stack, application performance, and stability.
  • Implement and maintain a Monitoring Service to support the early recognition of issues with production.
  • Research, Design, and implement technical projects to facilitate business efforts and goals.
  • Work with hosting providers to maintain and improve production environments.
  • Ensure that sufficient environments are available to support the development and testing cycles.
  • Provide and support in-depth code reviews to improve the quality of all developments and future developments.
  • Assist with troubleshooting production issues through to resolution ensuring that measures are put in place where possible to stop re-occurrence.
  • Ensure that appropriate and detailed documentation is kept up to date in keeping with company guidelines.
