Cathy Jones celebrates 30 years at The Travel Chapter

Cathy joined us in September 1990, when we were still called Farm and Country Cottages as a property manager having previously worked as an estate agent previously. At the time, our collection had just 170 properties in its portfolio, which mainly consisted of cottages situated on working farms across the county of Devon.

At the start of her 30-year journey, Cathy began working from our head office in Northam to sign up local accommodation providers in the area. Since then, she has consistently been a top performer within the New Business team, full of motivation and she also plays a key role in helping the business grow from strength to strength.

30 years on, we’ve expanded to become an award-winning national holiday letting agency and rebranded ourselves to be The Travel Chapter, which is home of holidaycottages.co.uk. We now have more than 6,000 properties on our books which span the length and breadth of the UK. Over the past 8 years in particular, we have seen tremendous growth, with Cathy remaining an integral part of this, consistently signing up high quality properties throughout the region. Colleagues like Cathy with such experience, drive and care are what allows the business to retain the same high quality of local service with the added benefit of resources on a national scale as the company now employs more than 350 people.

Our headquarters remain in North Devon but are joined by various regional offices across the UK including those in Scotland and the Lake District.

Jayne McClure, CEO of The Travel Chapter, commented: “Cathy has shown tremendous commitment to the business and her ability to adapt with the continuous changes has been remarkable. She has such a strong passion for both property and people which is just one part of what makes her such an asset to the company.

“You can always rely on Cathy to be full of laughter, always seeing the funny side of things, which is her secret to remaining positive. We hope that she continues to bring her passion and joy to the business for many years to come!”

Cathy Jones reflected on her lengthy service and said: “Starting work with the company late summer in 1990 from a small 1st floor office, ìts a million miles away from our high tech offices today. There were just 4 of us back then, but steadily we built up the collection and as they say the rest is history!

“It's been great being part of this family firm and watching it grow and succeed. A huge thank you to the Morris family, especially Peter Morris who took a big risk back then to branch out and do something different. Thanks for all the memories, and here’s to the next chapter!”
