Demand for UK staycations remains strong in 2022

Travel Chapter is reporting strong demand for UK 2022 staycations with a continued interest in UK holiday rentals for the year ahead, meaning property owners can expect a bumper year for bookings.

Marketing Director, Matt Brayley, commented: “We’re seeing significant growth in bookings across all periods of the year, but the short term - between now and Easter - is showing the biggest increase. In the past week, bookings are up 100% compared to the same period two years ago, which at that time were yet to be affected by COVID.

“Demand is naturally high, but we’ve also launched a number of new marketing initiatives since Christmas, including a national TV campaign with Sky, continued investment in our digital marketing channels, as well as furthering our relationships with a number of key partners, including the RSPB, Joules and the Marine Conservation Society.”

Other trends include a rise in bookings with dogs which are up over 60% versus two years ago, with the increase in pet ownership seeing more guests looking to holiday in the UK with their four-legged friends; whilst some of the most popular destinations being searched for on Travel Chapter’s sites include Tenby in West Wales, Keswick in the Lake District, Bude in Cornwall and Westward Ho! in North Devon.

Chief Operating Officer, James Starkey, said: “All of our research has pointed towards a continued demand for UK breaks this year.

2022 has started particularly strongly, with bookings up over 400% compared to a year ago when the future COVID restrictions were unknown, whilst forward bookings are already over 80% ahead of where they were in 2020.”
