The Travel Chapter go commando

On Sunday 14th October 2018, 18 of the foolhardiest members of the Travel Chapter team quite literally braved hell and high water to successfully complete Mission: Unbreakable 2018.

Mission: Unbreakable is a 10km race most certainly not for the faint-hearted: constructed by the military, the obstacle course took the team - battered by wind, rain and mud - across punishing terrain, up and down hills, through rivers, tunnels and marshland and over dozens of obstacles before delivering them muddied, exhausted and yet elated to the finish line. All in an effort to raise money for the North Devon Hospice.

The event was organised by the incredible team at North Devon Hospice who, along with 24 Commando Engineer Regiment, really put competitors through their paces with 40 brutal obstacles including: ‘Tunnel Trouble’, the ‘Marsh Mudder’ and the ‘Log Loader’.  Not to mention full submersion in icy waters at the ‘Sheep Dip’ as well as the steep hill climbs of ‘Earn Your Stripes’ and the physically draining ‘Ring the Bell’.  But it wasn’t all uphill: hurtling downhill on a giant slip and slide had the whole team grinning like children.

And despite the cold and challenging conditions, the team spurred one another on and reached the end victorious having raised well over £1000 for the hospice. A job certainly well done although we were all slightly broken by the end of it…

Here’s to an even bigger team next year!
